BLACK SCREEN FOR FEW SECONDS.
FADE IN:
INT. BHARATH’S BEDROOM - NIGHT
A study table stands against the wall with a laptop on it.
The papers are strewn around and a lamp glows down on the
sheets. A mild breeze pushes the curtain over the table. The
second breeze through the window blows the papers but the
papers are held down by the weight of the laptop. The sound
of the breeze is rhythmic.
BHARATH(MID 30S) (V.O)
(mild volume)
It will be alright Veda(8). Go to
sleep and you will not feel it
anymore. I will talk to Doctor
uncle tomorrow about this.
Veda’s voice is very muffled and inaudible.
BHARATH (V.O)
Yes. Yes. Of course mummy thinks
about you all the time, but you
know that she has gone away for
sometime. Now go to sleep, dear.
Silence sets in and then the sound of Bharath moving around
in the distance rises.
Beat.
A flick of the switch and closing of the door.

INT. BHARATH’S HOUSE HALLWAY - NIGHT
Bharath slowly closes the door and waits holding the knob.
He turns around and walks to his room.
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
Bharath walks into the room and towards the table and sits
down.
Bharath starts browsing in the laptop. The clock shows 11:30
PM. The screen has pages about bone marrow donors and
survivors of bone marrow cancer.

Bharath is engrossed in an article when suddenly a loud
noise(tumbler falling) from some place else startles him.
He gets up and walks out and climbs down the stairs and goes
into the kitchen.
He looks down and finds a tumbler lying on the floor.
He picks it up, looks at it in surprise and places it back
and turns around.
His gaze falls on the rose flower in a vase in the kitchen
that is dying. He stares at it for sometime and walks back
to the stairs.
He enters his room and walks across and reaches the table.
But he stops and walks back to the shelves which has his
family photo.
He picks it up and slowly runs his finger over his wife’s
face and then his daughter’s.
He places it back and with a determined face walks back to
the table.
He reaches the table and finds a crumpled paper on the
table.
He picks it up and opens it. It has a sketch of the sun and
a girl lying on the floor. The sun’s rays are hitting the
girl and bouncing off her.
He is a bit confused but puts it away anyway and sits down
and goes back to work.

INT. HOSPITAL CONSULTATION ROOM - DAY
BHARATH
(upset)
So what is it this time?
SACHIN(LATE 30S)
This is important Bharath. We may
have found a donor this time. But
there is a problem.
Bharath looks at Sachin questioningly. Sachin immediately
throws up his hand and defendingly speaks.

SACHIN
No, this time we are sure of the
subject.
BHARATH
It is not about the subject Sachin.
This whole process...this system is
depressing. My daughter needs more
than what you can offer here in
this place.
SACHIN
Give us another chance Bharath. I
am sure we can get the right donor
this time.
BHARATH
No Sachin. I have given enough
chances. I am taking her to New
York this Sunday. I have already
talked to Dr. Feynman about her
treatment.
Sachin leans back in his chair and looks defeated.
SACHIN
OK...listen to this. If I can’t get
this donor in the next two days,
you go ahead with your plan. Two
days is all I am asking.
Bharath looks at Sachin.
Beat.
BHARATH
OK..two days. I will stay back if
you can manage a donor by then.

Bharath is washing up after dinner and is engrossed in the

from leukemia had been delusional
about being saved by the Sun.
Bharath who is now interested in the news puts down the
plate and walks out of the kitchen.
He walks into the living room where the television is
playing and picks up the remote. The news reader continues.
NEWS CHANNEL READER
Is this just another case of a
missing person or is it something
else?
Just then Bharath hears Veda giggling upstairs.
He puts down the remote and walks up the stairs.
He reaches the door and opens it slowly. He sees Veda lying
on the bed.
He walks in and sits next to her. He notices a crumpled
paper and opens it up. He finds the same drawing of the
Sun’s rays bouncing off the girl in it.
He looks at Veda.
BHARATH
How are you feeling, dear?
Veda nods her head.
BHARATH
Who were you talking to now?
Veda looks at Bharath and does not speak.
BHARATH
You know you can tell me.
VEDA
I am not supposed to talk about
them.
BHARATH
Why not?
VEDA
They said you would not understand.

BHARATH
Of course I will, dear. You know
you can tell me anything.
Veda thinks about it for a second.
VEDA
They are the Sun people. They told
me that they can make this pain go
away.
BHARATH
What are you talking about, dear.
Who are these people?
VEDA
I told you, Daddy. You would not
understand.
BHARATH
I do, Veda. But where are they now?
VEDA
They left when they heard you
coming.
Bharath turns away and walks to the window and pushes the
curtain and stares outside.
He turns and looks at Veda pitifully and walks out of the
room.

SACHIN(V.O.)
Bharath. Its me. I have got in
touch with the donor I was talking
about. We may be in luck. He lives
close to Bangalore.
BHARATH
Sachin. The situation seems worse
than we thought.
SACHIN(V.O.)
What happened?
BHARATH
Veda..she talks to someone in her
room.
SACHIN(V.O.)
What do you mean? Like someone who
is not there.
BHARATH
Yes. Do you think she is
delusional?
SACHIN(V.O.)
I can’t tell you anything unless
you bring her in. She needs medical
attention.
BHARATH
No..no. I will not let something
happen to her like what happened to
Ramya.
SACHIN(V.O.)
Bharath. We tried our best to save
Ramya. Even if you had taken her to
the corner of this world they would
have done the exact same thing.
BHARATH
Listen to me, Sachin. You have
another day. If you cannot setup a
meeting with the donor by tomorrow,
I am leaving with Veda.
Bharath moves the phone away from his ear as we hear Sachin
screaming Bharath’s name repeatedly.

INT. BHARATH’S HOUSE - NIGHT
Bharath is fast asleep in his bed.
A light breeze sways the curtain.
The photograph of Bharath’s family sits in the shelf.
We cut away to the hallway which is silent.
Bharath wakes up suddenly and sits up.
He gets out of his bed and runs to Veda’s room.
He opens it and finds it empty. Just then he hears a sound
downstairs.
He rushes down the stairs and runs into the kitchen and it
is empty.
He runs to the living room and sees Veda standing facing the
door with her doll in one hand.
BHARATH
Veda..Veda.
Veda turns around stares at him and looks back at the door.
Just then we see light flooding the corners of the door.
Bharath rushes forward and lifts Veda. He watches as the
window is engulfed in light.
He steps back with horror in his eyes.
He hold Veda tight.
VEDA
Daddy. Don’t be scared.
Bharath looks at her in surprise.
VEDA
You have to let me go.
BHARATH
No. I am not letting you go
anywhere.
VEDA
You can’t save me, Daddy.
Bharath stares at the rose flower in the vase as it comes to
life.

Sachin walks in and Bharath turns around and follows with
his gaze till he sits down in his chair.
SACHIN
What is it?
Bharath does not reply and tightens his grip.
SACHIN
Bharath..Bharath. Listen to me.
Before you decide on something i
have something to say. The donor
has backed out. Thinks it could
risk his life.
Bharath lifts his head and looks at Sachin with fear.
SACHIN
But we will work something out. You
have to stay back with Veda.
Bharath stares into the wall behind Sachin.
SACHIN
Bharath. Listen to me. Go home now.
Be with Veda and we shall bring her
in tomorrow.
BHARATH
It doesn’t matter anymore. It is
all over now.
SACHIN
Don’t give up now, Sachin.
BHARATH
It is not up to us anymore. We
can’t save her.
Bharath gets up and Sachin is speechless. Bharath walks to
the door and turns back around and says.

Mr. Bharath, this is Dr. Robert
Feynman from the St. Isabel
Hospital in New York...mmmm...I am
sorry to inform you that our first
test on a patient has failed. I am
sorry I won’t be able to help your
daughter now. I shall let you know
when we are ready.
Bharath gets up from the bed.
Bharath walks to Veda’s room and opens the door.
He walks in and kneels down next to Veda.
BHARATH
Everything is going to alright,
dear. Remember that I and mummy
will always love you.
He lifts Veda in his hand and walks out of the room. He
climbs down the stairs.
He reaches downstairs and walks to the living room and
stands.
He looks straight ahead when the light starts flooding the
